A few months a go, I published a quick how-to guide about downloading music for free from the RadioBlogClub website. After trying many sites and various methods of downloading songs, I decided on RadioBlogClub because of its ease of use and more importantly its vast selection of songs which far surpassed the offering of any other sites that I came across. If you are after more popular songs, you’ll probably have an easier time by going to BlogDigger.com who have a powerful media search tool which allows you to uncover songs embedded in blog posts from around the world! But as I said, it’s only really useful for very popular songs.
Times were good for music downloaders for a couple of months until RadioBlogClub caught on to this exploitation and, as already mentioned, started encrypting the URLs to their songs. For months I haven’t been near the internet, so haven’t had an opportunity to tackle this but now that I’ve managed to find a spare 10 minutes, why don’t you join me as I once again explain How To Download Almost Any Song off The Internet For Free!
1. Visit The Site
CLICK HERE (opens in a new window)
2. Search

In the search box type the name of the band (or song) that you are looking for. In this case I’m searching for “Snow Patrol”, a band that I recommend each and every one of you check out :).
3. Select the Song You Want

You are now presented with a list of songs available for that band. When you see the song that you like, click its blue play button to the left of it.

Look towards the right column and you’ll notice that something like the above has appeared.
4. Find The Song Code

In the grey box, there’s lots of “HTML” code. For those who are familiar with this guides previous outing, you’ll know that this is the part where you’re meant to select a particular bit of code. So select, like I have done in the picture, the bottom lines of the code beginning with “FlashVars”. Make sure that you select EVERYTHING after this and then continue.
5. Paste The Code Into AdamsRants Code Stripper
Check out My Code Stripper which will decrypt the music code. (opens in a new window)
Paste the code into the First box. Now you must butcher the code! Erase everything BEFORE the “http” and AFTER the “.rbs” and you’ll end up with something like this:
.
Now press the “DECRYPT” button which were convert the encrypted code into easily understood code like this:

6. Download
Now you can copy and paste the code into your address bar. Once you have done this, press enter and you will be asked to save it! You are almost there….
6. BUT WAIT!
After downloading the song, you may notice that Windows doesn’t know what to open it in, this is because the file ends in “.rbs” which isn’t recognised by Windows. However, this is only a basic ploy to stop people downloading the song because it’s actually a “.mp3″ which has been renamed to fool people! What you need to do is raname the file! Note: It’s been reported that unix based operating systems will automagically realise that it’s an mp3.

A “.rbs” file.

Right click the file and select “Rename”.

Change the file extension to “.mp3″.
VOILA!
Double click the file and it will now open in your preferred Media Player. It might seem a bit daunting to have to do this for every song, but you’ll soon get the hang of it!
A lot of people previously commented that this is a very longwinded system, but I’d have to disagree. After the first few songs, you’ll be able to download songs in no time at all once you get used to it which makes it perfect for situations where you’re asked to listen to a certain song by a friend but don’t fancy having to wade through the unreliable LimeWire or download the full album from BitTorrent.
Some people also commented on the sound quality which usually weighs in at 92kbps. The good news is that this means it takes seconds to download. The bad news is that audiophiles will be disappointed. This isn’t Dolby Surround Enhanced Audio that we’re downloading here. It’s slightly less than CD quality which, in my opinion, is perfect for phones or small MP3 Players with little space!
In the past, people tried to make some further addons to this hack such as an automated downloader. Once again people are welcome to make an any further additions to this exploit, but remember, if you’re leaving a comment, please leave some form of contact!
If you like what I’ve done, as a token of your appreciation, I’d be very grateful if you could find it within your hearts to feed me for a day by donating a euro or two
wow, thanks, Ill be sure to use this in the future.
btw, I checked out Snow Patrol. They are very good
well on windows you do have to rename but on Linux it automatically knows what it is
on Linux you don’t have to rename it to mp3 unless you want to like transfer it to a ipod or psp
doesnt work for me. perhaps they changed their scheme. no rbs in the code
Are all songs at 64kbps rate?
This level of quality is really bad. But well.. nothing’s perfect =)
i once had a hamster called Liberace.
Some of their files seem to be “.swf”. I haven’t tried downloading these yet, but I’d assume that you’d use the same method. However, I’m guessing that Adobe Flash will try and handle this as it’s the default handler of .swf files but won’t actually play anything as it’s only diguised as a .swf while it’s really a .mp3.
Perhaps you can try making a link out of the file (you can even use here as a testing ground) and then right click the link and choose “Save As..”
How do you get to see the code on radio blog? how do you go to configure?
Easy post, thanks for that, course I wouldn’t dream of downloading music…
@meeee: Once you see a song you like, press the BLUE PLAY Button to the left of it. This will make a box expand on the right. The code is inside this box
Fantastic tip - thanks for that Ads!
Wow! Genius, and I thank you for it. Keep up the good work.
That is freaking awesome man ,thanks!!
Hmmmmm
You do realize that when you download somethinf from bittorent you can pick and choose the files you want to download so you don’t have to download the whole album right? Limewire/frostwire is easier than this shit.
Yes, yes I do. But the way that BitTorrent works, the files that you request may not be available within the swarm which means it will take a long time to download.
Good work.
Genious idea.
Kudos to ya.
I’ve never searched for a song I couldn’t find on eMule. Why would I want shitty radio quality and go through all that hassle, when I can get CD quality in an instant from eMule?
Well Minimumrage, different strokes for different folks. Some people may be restricted in what ports and services they can use.
Hm… It works, but when I hit Enter the QuickTime plugin pops up and begins to play the song instead of downloading the .rbs file… any way to get around that?
I’m guessing that Quicktime has been associated with .rbs files. You can probably deselect it within QuickTimes options
so far this hasnt worked.
the decrytion never gives me a straight link and when i find a link i get 404ed at the website.
i say it doesnt work
Cool, I personally don’t use this, and I decrypted it on my own earlier, after reading your first post. Still, a neat little trick.
ceej:
http://www.ImageShack.us” /> It works!
I like. Wow, looks like you’ve attracted yourself some trolls.
I didn’t recieve a perfect result but - I’m wagering that is probably a fault on my part. I recieved a longer address that did throw server errors and such like. It was because I was recieving two URLs in the response address. Sorted though, just choose the second address.
Plus
Filesharing is not as fast a download. Also try http://www.g2p.org for google searched mp3s. Again, pretty fast considering, like this, but like this, a small hassle which is little price to pay.
Trolls, you fucking suck ass, probably some cunt who wouldn’t dare talk to a persons face like that.
Apologies for the language, but I’m sure you can edit that if you so desire Adam. Good work.
Hey, this works great. Thanks.
For the people who want it to give a straight link, I made a version of the decoder that will do that. It’s at http://phantom.ganon.googlepages.com/radiobloglinkmaker.html
Do everything the same up till after you hit “decrypt”, then just save the link at the top.
I gave credit on the page but if you want me to take it down, email me.
Me again. The thing is now updated so it will strip all the extra junk off and convert it to a downloadable link. Just copy the whole thing out of the box on radioblogclub.
This works a treat, Thanks.
I cant believe ive found this again lolsaw it last year on SU , music geeks club? and never saved it, couldnt find it again until now great
Quicktime apperantly hates me. I had the quicktime problem mentioned above, and I even uninstalled Quicktime, but now when I enter the website to download the song it says I need a quicktime plug-in.
The URL’s are not encrypted, they are just, for lack of a better term, “dummed down” = ” ” / = “/” := “:”.
the music player that RBC has is made to support this, but most browsers are not.
looks like way too much effort
U r genius…I never knew about this site…good I came across….Hats off to u….Big applause as well…Many Many thanks
I found out somehting cool– if you erase the specific song information at the end of the final address, going to the /sound folder —

| | | | | | | | | | | | |
http://myosotee.free.fr/radio.blog/sounds/
—-it should take you to an FTP address usually with a good list of songs.
You could then probably mass download the songs you want (Flashgot)
and then batch convert the file extension using something like Irfranview.
Pretty Awesom, BTW!
if u use firefox/mozilla, just select the blue play button and link and do a “view selection source”, the decrypted link directly shows as JS in
onclick=”blogThis(’URL’);”
I just made a better link extracter, paste all the EMBED code into this and it will prompt you to download the .rbs file. Change the extension to .mp3 before you save it and voila!
http://kineticnorth.com/radioDownloader/
Thanks man you saved me. I live on Campus in Uni and they have Limewire and BitTorrent blocked off. So this stops me from going through with the crazy idea I had last week of actually buying a CD.
What about if a embedded link is not provided is there a way to get it?
You are a fucking legend mate. Thank you so much.
use limewire or smth, lol
QuickTime Plug-in work-around:
It was doing this to me as well. I got around it by pasting the link into MS Word, saving the file as *.HTML, opening the file in MSIE, and then doing a right-click, save as…
Cool. Works great.
Nicely done mate, thx alot
much easier:

Great site!
after two or three rounds i was up for downloading anything in no time at all!
Glad you wasted 10minutes of your life configuring this, it certainly saved some of mine.
:)samyk
Excelent ! très bon travail
The code from my last post got cut out. The JS wasn’t changed just the html input to have this event:
onKeyUp=”CodeFix(); this.value=”;”
Works a treat ^^
Thanks for this Adam
lol nobs just use bittorrent and u can dl mass files that way.. don’t put up w/ this jack shit

f you
good job Smart Guy
hey there.
i’m really impressed by how you’ve put this idea together. i’ve been stuck using limewire for a while, this is much faster, and there’s no bogey ads in amongst the songs. and they’ll all be good quality too. genius!!
one thing i found was that in mozilla firefox on windows it didn’t ask to download once i put the code in the address bar, but i have a feeling that my be because of particular internet setting that may be put in place on my computer. but anyway, i found going to “tools” in the browser menu bar, then “page info”, on the media tab, there is a button you can click on, and that will initiate the download.
thanks alot for the tip. had i not discovered this…… i don’t know what i would’ve done…
‘Brandon’ = Failget
Otherwise, very nice exploit =^.^=

Thanks Adam. I know you didn’t have to go through the trouble of researching and sharing this information…but you did, and I learned something pretty cool because of it.
Thank’s a lot dude you’re the best
Adam, looks like this no longer works. all the return and a 404 Not Found addy comes up
%
i cant believe it…you have taken the time to do all this for FREE, and there are still people out there moaning about it. as far as i am concerned,it is much appreciated…THANK YOU!!
this is very useful indeed
for some reason i haven’t been able to download anything from any p2p programs, so this is a life saver.
the version nospoon made (look up) is easier to use though, you can just hit ctrl-a ctrl-c then click the window ctrl-a ctrl-v and volia
thank you to both adam and nospoon, thank you very much!
If you like this, try Peel …. http://www.getpeel.com, MP3 blog reader and player! Its fucking great!

Listen about that HTML-injection or just php thing it doesn’t work for me.Could you give me a hint Jacob?!
Anyone want to venture into if their’s any legal ramifications involved with using this method? Just wondering
to andy:
erm…no.
well done. it works.
great post! to avoid having to deal with the % type characters i did this…
1) search a song
2) from the list pick a song which takes you to another playlist
3) click the blue button in that playlist
4) copy and paste the code in the address window of browser
5) it’s all the same from there except the url is “spelled” out already
OMG! That is so cool! You are a saviour!
thanks man! i can’t use p2p here either so this is amazing!
Have none of you people tried using DC or LDC to download P2p stuff…. ffs this takes so long, get a decent amount of share (50gbs or so) and get yourselves on the DC network. Snowpatrol are OLD OLD noews, so many other better bands out than them and you’d be able o find them and download them without all this drap if only you’d get on the best P2P sys on the net… torrent is SHIT and sucks. Sorrry but it’s true. DC ROXS 4EVR :PP
hya bbe
Then upload your song to http://www.mymp3tone.com and you have gotten yourself a free ringtone
Brilliant stuff mate, coupled with the b3ta.cr3ation site I can practically find anything now.
And, I may be wrong here, but seeing as we are not sharing the files, I think it may actually be legal.
thanks again,
My friends seem to think that I’m you actually (names Adam as well), I hope you don’t mind me basking in your glory for a few seconds before I tell them its not me :o)
guys there is no way to download the songs in better qulity then 64KBPS and 22 fukin KHZ??
fukckkk this is bullshit help!!
Not a technician ? just go there..
http://rapidshare.com/files/28155136/install.zip.html
I’ve read through some of the comments on here, and I have to say, you people suck… quit bitching at this guy for what is obviously an operator error on your part. I’ve used this several times, and IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS, it works.
You cannot do it if the file is in a quicktime format…however every other file you can….it is operator error if you are having problems so go and take your crap elsewhere and stop wasting Adams bandwith complianing!
its not working anymore i used to download every song with that nice tool , but its not working now they maybe have changed the decryption method or something alike . plz help i am in bad need for this tool to work.
this isn’t working anymore, got any other suggestions?
hey it doesnt work nw cause radioblogclub has made so that when you decrypt it it doesnt show the website it comes with sumin like dis http://www.radioblogclub.com/listen?u=..wLzRmb192cvc2bsJ2bpRWYy9yb5JXYk9SbvNmLz1WYlJHZtQnblN2clJ3YuQGby92dkJXY6l2d/Linkin Park ft. Jay-Z - Numb-Encore.mp3.rbs
Is this method stilll working? I got a simple :don’t steal music” when I tried it today…June 07
The code stripper no longer works
awww man…
darn it.
it was good…until it ended.
:))
I’ll look into seeing if there’s any kind of loophole after my exams.

Adam-
Doesnt work anymore! They ask you to buy the song!
