That certainly is the question!  It never ceases to amaze me how the slightest change and make a difference to a webpage ranking.  Recently I added a comment to a computer forum.  The post linked to my site.  A few days later it ranked number 1 for my key search term and pushed me into number 2! grrrrrrrr.
